SHAMOKIN - Two area residents were identified as having purchased the winning tickets for combined lottery prizes of nearly $1.5 million.
Dawn Drumheiser, of Shamokin, claimed a $1 million prize for a Powerball drawing, and Joseph Blase, of Mount Carmel, claimed $495,240.50 for hitting the Cash 5 jackpot, a lottery spokeswoman said Thursday.
Drumheiser purchased the ticket from the Lincoln Street Turkey Hill for the May 26 drawing.
The $1 million is the second-tier prize. Her ticket matched all five white balls but missed the $126 million grand prize when the red Powerball didn't match.
She claimed her prize June 4.
Blase bought his winning ticket at Boyer's Food Markets, just west of the Mount Carmel Borough line, for the May 19 drawing.
He claimed his prize June 7.
The federal withholding for both prizes is 25 percent.
Turkey Hill on Lincoln Street will get a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning Powerball ticket; Boyer's a $500 prize for the Cash 5 ticket.
