10th anniversary concert tonight
COAL TOWNSHIP - The Shamokin Area Senior High School band, orchestra and chorus will present the 10th annual "Pops" Concert at 7 p.m. today in the high school auditorium.
This concert is billed as a time to "Reminisce, Celebrate and Reflect" on what music has brought to the community in the Shamokin area, and the lives of the students, alumni and music faculty.
The concert - under the direction of Kevin Styer, Barbara DeGaetano and Rachel Ulsh - will include light pop music from movies and musicals as well as hits by Santana and Madonna.
Students will welcome former and present music faculty in their combined band, orchestra and chorus rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water." They will then be joined by alumni members in their finale, "I Believe in Music."
The public is invited to attend the free performance.
Bargains in the Park Saturday
MOUNT CARMEL - Bargains in the Park is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the town park, rain or shine.
The event features vendors, yard sales, food and fun. Admission is free.
