SUNBURY - Four individuals were arrested during a drug bust conducted this week by the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force.

Task force members from Sunbury City Police, Point Township Police and the Pennsylvania State Police spent 48 hours in an investigation that led to drug seizures, multiple arrests and the gathering of street intelligence, said Sunbury City Police Chief Stephen Mazzeo Thursday. Northumberland County District Attorney's office supervised the bust.

Arrested were:

- Alvin Jefferies, of Port Trevorton, charged with multiple counts of possession and delivery of crack cocaine.

- William Wynn, of Sunbury, charged with multiple counts of possession and delivery of illegal Oxycontin.

- Janice L. Dowd, of Sunbury, charged with multiple counts of possession and delivery of illegal Dilaudid, Oxycontin, crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

- Alberta Jean Britton, of Sunbury, charged with multiple counts of possession and delivery of 270 packets of heroin.

Police said the heroin in Britton's arrest has a street value of more than $8,100.

All four individuals were committed to Northunberland County Prison. Wynn, Dowd and Britton were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin. Wynn and Dowd were committed on $75,000 bail while Britton's bail was set at $100,000.

Jeffries was committed on a warrant by the Pennsylvania State Police Interdiction Unit.

Mazzeo said the task force is continuing the investigation into the illegal drug trade and more arrests are expected.
