SHAMOKIN - A teenage girl and three Shamokin men face multiple charges following a domestic dispute concerning an infant child early May 1 on East Sunbury Street.

Court papers say the teen yelled loudly while pounding and kicking doors at 1020 E. Sunbury St. about 3:20 a.m. She was seeking to take custody of her child from its father, Brent J. Smith, 21, a tenant at the property, court papers say.

The teen allegedly broke a window, crawled through it and pounded on a locked interior door, behind which the father held the child. When the window broke, another tenant, Christian L. Dawson, 18, told officers he dialed 911.

The ruckus caused sleeping neighbors to awaken, one of whom believing to have heard gunshots.

Officers arrived and secured the scene. Officials of Northumberland County Children and Youth also responded.

Patrolman Raymond Siko II, the investigating officer, said Tuesday that no shots were fired and that loud sounds heard by the neighbor likely were caused by the teen striking a metal door.

The juvenile's alleged actions culminated a day filled with arguments between the teen and Smith, he told police, according to court papers.

Officers were permitted to search the property, during which four smoking pipes and other smoking devices were allegedly recovered along with empty packs of synthetic marijuana known as "spice," court papers say.

Other items believed by officers to be used in ingesting drugs were also recovered.

Smith, Dawson and a third roommate, 18-year-old Tyler Smith - who arrived on scene after returning home from work - allegedly admitted to possessing the paraphernalia found inside the home and to regularly smoking spice, according to court papers.

Tyler Smith told police they bought the spice once or twice a week at a store in Bloomsburg, court papers say.

Brent Smith is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and harassment.

Tyler Smith and Dawson are each charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

The juvenile is charged with two counts of disorderly conduct along with harassment and criminal mischief, Siko said. Those charges were filed in juvenile court.
