WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Tom Marino (R-10) announced Thursday that he will undergo surgery to remove small tumors located on his kidney.

His doctors anticipate a full recovery and Marino will resume a full schedule after a brief recovery period. The surgery will be performed Monday at the Cleveland Clinic under the care of Dr. Jihad Kaouk.

Marino is a two-time cancer survivor, according to his biography on his congressional website.

Bill Tighe, chief of staff for Marino, emphasized that services for residents of the 10th district will continue as usual.

"Individuals in need of assistance should contact our Washington office or one of our constituent service centers located across the district," Tighe said. "Since being sworn into office in 2011, Tom has made constituent service and outreach a top priority, and our staff will work tirelessly to honor that commitment while he recuperates."

Marino was elected to represent the people of the 10th District of Pennsylvania in 2010. Prior to that, he served as the United States Attorney for the middle district of Pennsylvania. He lives outside of Williamsport with his wife and two children.
