This year, the dates for open enrollment period for Medicare prescription drug coverage have changed. Open enrollment begins Saturday and ends Dec. 7. After Dec. 7, members will not be able to choose a different plan for 2012 unless they have a reason that allows for a special enrollment period.
Members are urged to check their current plans during the open enrollment period even if they are happy with their current coverage because formulary changes may cause one's medications to not be covered in 2012. Premiums, copays and deductibles also may change.

Members are asked to bring all insurance cards, including Medicare cards; a driver's license or photo ID; all medication bottles or a list of current medications, including dosage and times of day administered; last year's income verification, if applying for PACE, and current income verification to apply for pharmacy extra help or state coverage for Medicare Part B premiums to their appointments.
