A 32-year-old Shamokin woman has been charged with multiple offenses relating to crimes committed in five local municipalities.
Shauna L. Nahodil, of 410 N. Rock St., faces charges filed by police in Ralpho Township, Mount Carmel Township, Mount Carmel, Shamokin and Coal Township.
She is charged by Ralpho Township Patrolman Christopher Grow with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, flight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest and loitering and prowling at night relating to a disturbance shortly before 3 a.m. Friday at 283 Penn Ave., Elysburg.
Police said Nahodil claimed to be under the influence of bath salts at the time of the offenses. Police found numerous syringes, some of which were filled with blood, in Nahodil's purse after they apprehended her following a foot chase in a wooded area and the back yard of 283 Penn Ave.
Nahodil told police she thought people were chasing her so she ran through the back yard, changed her shoes, dropped her belongings and ran into the woods.
Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Brian Carnuccio charged Nahodil with burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and forgery.
Police reported Nahodil allegedly broke into the home of Judy and David Permar, of 190 Greco Lane, Mount Carmel Estates, between 5 p.m. July 22 and 5 p.m. July 23, where she stole a checkbook. Police said Nahodil then allegedly forged several checks totaling $865.
Nahodil also was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Matthew Dillman with forgery, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property involving incidents that occurred between June 28 and July 4 at 401 E. Sixth St., Mount Carmel.
Police reported Nahodil allegedly stole a check belonging to Jennifer Johnson, forged it and cashed it in the amount of $110. According to police, Nahodil slept over Johnson's residence on June 28.
Nahodil was arraigned Monday on the charges filed by Mount Carmel Township, Mount Carmel and Ralpho Township police by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $60,000 bail ($20,000 on each criminal complaint).
The defendant also faces theft-related charges filed by Shamokin and Coal Township police.
Shamokin Cpl. Bryan Primerano charged Nahodil with forgery and theft by deception.
According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Nahodil stole a checkbook belonging to Jason Yeager, of 421 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, on May 3, forged a check in the amount of $125 and then cashed it.
Coal Township Patrolman David Sage filed charges of theft and receiving stolen property against Nahodil in connection with an Aug. 3 incident at 1225 Chemung St., Coal Township.
Police reported Nahodil stole a black and silver knife owned by John Kleman and gave it to Robert Erb.
