Knoebels to host 'Deaf Day' Saturday
ELYSBURG - Knoebels Amusement Resort is hosting a "Deaf Day" on Saturday. Cindi Brown, a local sign language interpreter working with Dr. Jessica Bentley-Sassaman who is a professor in the American Sign Language/ English Interpreter Training Program at Bloomsburg University, has developed the program. Deaf Day will be an opportunity for local deaf individuals to come to Knoebels and enjoy all of the shows that the park offers that day through sign language interpretation.
Members of the Bloomsburg University 2011 senior interpreter training class will provide the on-stage interpretation with on-site support/mentoring from Pennsylvania state-registered interpreters. Both student interpreters and registered interpreters will volunteer their services.
For more information, contact Brown at 764-3145 or Joe Muscato at Knoebels at 672-2527.
