COAL TOWNSHIP - The June meeting of the Rainbow Club was held at Our Lady of Hope hall. Ruth Romanoski, president, opened the meeting with the adult ministry payer, Pledge of Allegiance and the Over 50 Song. A moment of silence was held for Theresa Sokoloskie, a long-time member who recently passed away.
Birthdays for the month were read followed by songs and applause.
Florence Verano gave her report on the travel club. The July 21 trip will be to Hunterdon Hills Playhouse to see "The Summer Musical." The bus will leave the church parking lot at 8 a.m. Trips are scheduled for Aug. 25 to the Dutch Apple Theatre, Oct. 6, to Allenberry Playhouse to see "I Do I Do" and Nov. 3, Christmas Music Theatre. Dinner will be at Miller's Smorgasbord.
The minutes were read by Dolly Yocum, and approved by the president and filed.
The attendance award was won by Eileen Janaskie. The winners of the 50/50 were Romanoski, Marie Cwalina and Pat Kroh.
Dingo was chaired by Pat Pellman and Peggy Thomas. Yocum was the caller.
A covered dish picnic followed the meeting. Cake winners were Shirley Bebenek, Joe Dobson and Eleanor Waraksa.
The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. July 10.
Our Lady CCW
MOUNT CARMEL - Our Lady of Mount Carmel Council of Catholic Women and Rosary Society held its meeting June 9 in the parish hall. President Theresa Conniff brought the meeting to order with members joining in prayer and also saying the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes were read by Dianne Darrah, and the treasurer's report was given by Debbie Gownley.
The council will donate a comforter set to the annual church picnic this weekend. The Rosary Altar Society will donate a vacuum cleaner for the bazaar. The Rosary Society will also purchase new Christmas trees for the church for the holiday season.
Members commended Maria Bridy for decorating the altars for various occasions. Bridy also thanked Trina Leshinski for her help in decorating for Easter. The refreshment committee for the next meeting will include Darrah and Leshinski.
Mary Janet Rudisill moved to make a motion that the meeting be adjourned and Marian Blase seconded the motion. The meeting was closed with a prayer for the active, sick and deceased members. Refreshments were served.
