KULPMONT - The ninth annual Kulpmont Cruise will be held on Sunday, June 26.
Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. on the picnic grounds of Holy Angels Church, Scott Street. Music and refreshments will be provided by the Kulpmont Football/Baseball Association (KFBA).
The cruise will begin at 3:30 p.m., heading from Fir Street to Chestnut Street (Route 61). The vehicles will return to the picnic grounds, where they will be on display until approximately at 6 p.m.
Last year, there was a record number of vehicles in the cruise, coming from all over Pennsylvania, as well as from New Jersey, New York and Delaware.
WKMC-TV Mount Carmel Area High School's broadcast station, under the direction of David McFee and Kathryn Schauer, will televise the cruise.
Again this year, "Elvis" will entertain before, during and after the cruise.
John Shimock, of Shimock's Furniture, Kulpmont, will sponsor the live band Deuce on the back of a flat-bed trailer during the cruise. Shimock will use his store van to pull the band.
Mike Habowski, owner of H&B Construction, will sponsor a 1950s and '60s disc jockey on the back of his flat-bed trailer during the cruise.
If the weather cooperates, cruise director Joe Cesari predicts another record turnout for the event, which draws thousands of spectators.
Victorian Highwheelers from Tamaqua will join the cruise for the first time this year.
The cruise benefits the youth of Kulpmont. Thousands of dollars have been raised by the last eight cruises.
