IRISH VALLEY - The Seraphim Choir, consisting of 20-plus members from Northern Texas, will be touring Central Pennsylvania this May, which will include a stop at Clark's Grove United Methodist Church.
Seraphim is collectively a music ministry of the Denton Wesley Foundation, a United Methodist campus ministry that serves the University of North Texas, Texas Women's University and North Central Texas College. They sing weekly at Tuesday evening services held at the Wesley Foundation.
Seraphim has recorded an album, toured throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland, and has previously played in Washington D.C. and Baltimore. They were also privileged to sing at the installation of Dr. Earl Bledsoe as the bishop of the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church.
They are directed by Northumberland native Trevor Shaw, a son of Shikellamy High School choral director Verlaine Shaw.
Clark's Grove will host a concert at 7 p.m. Sunday. In addition to performing their standard repertoire, the Clark's Grove Gospel Choir and Seraphim Choir will combine to sing "Come to Me," an original anthem composed by Doug Smith and arranged by Rob Ensinger, the choir director at Clark's Grove. Bonny Klinger will serve as the accompanist.
The concert will be a precursor to the second annual "Music in the Valley" series presented at Clark's Grove on three Thursday evenings in June. The concert is open to the public and free of charge.
Seraphim will also be presenting special music during the 10:30 a.m. worship service at First Reformed United Church of Christ Church in Sunbury.
