TREVORTON - Trevorton Senior Action Center held its monthly meeting April 7 with 13 members in attendance. President Edwina Savidge opened the meeting with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. The secretary's and treasurer's reports were read.
The travel committee, consisting of Joyce Koppen, Mary Ellen Hoffman and Judie Urick, presented a listing of all future trips and times of departure from various pick-up locations. They are still working on a five-day northern trip to be announced in the near future with prices and dates.
New business was discussed for March fundraisers, such as donuts for donut day and chocolate-covered eggs for Easter. The possibility of a future hoagie sale and Chinese auction were also discussed, but no dates have been set.
There are several same-day trips planned with Northumberland County Transportation, and more information can be obtained by contacting the center at 797-1996.
An Earth Day celebration on April 20 was a huge success. Guest speaker was Susan Zaner, who had been very instrumental in the recycling project in Shamokin. Zaner presented an excellent program on recycling. Members brought items made of recycled materials and the center manager, Diana Smeal, prepared delicious treats for those in attendance. Area Agency on Aging presented members with potted flowers to commemorate Earth Day.
A free breakfast for members will be served at 8:30 a.m. the last Monday of the month. Everyone who is a member is invited to help with the preparation.
