SHAMOKIN - The Rev. Adam Ziolkowski, parochial vicar at Mother Cabrini Church, will celebrate the 40th anniversary of his ordination during the 11 a.m. Mass at the church Sunday.
The 67-year-old native of South Boston, Mass., who has served as parochial vicar at Mother Cabrini Church since 2002, entered St. Joseph Cupertino Novitiate in Ellicott City, Md., in 1962, and took his first profession of vows Aug. 15, 1963. He made his solemn profession of vows Aug. 15, 1966, and was ordained to the priesthood May 20, 1972.
He graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from St. Hyacinth College and Seminary in Granby, Mass. He also earned a bachelor's degree in divinity and master's degree in theology in 1971 and 1973, respectively, from St. Anthony-on-Hudson Seminary, Rensselaer, N.Y.
The Franciscan priest was the associate pastor at St. Kanty Church in Clifton, N.J., from 1972 to 1982, and associate pastor at St. Michael Church in Bridgeport, Conn., from 1982-1983. From 1983 to 1986, he was associate pastor at St. Stanislaus Parish in Trenton, N.J.
From 1986 to 1992, he was parochial vicar at St. Casimir Church in Riverside, N.J.. From 1992 to 1993, he was parochial vicar at Sacred Heart Parish in Danbury, Conn., and held the same position at Mater Dolorosa Parish in Holyoke, Mass., from 1993 to 2002.
Father Adam is an avid gardener, carpenter and hiker and has been an active supporter of Mother Cabrini Parish and its various fund-raising activities and programs during the past decade.
The Rev. Martin Kobos, pastor of Mother Cabrini Church, commended his fellow friar for his 40 years of dedicated service to the priesthood and invited everyone to attend Sunday's Mass to honor Father Adam.
