The Mount Carmel Area Elks student awards for March have been announced.
Senior Student of the month is Tyler Hodge, a son of Donna and Marlin Hodge, of Kulpmont. Hodge plays varsity football and track and is a member of The Knights of Columbus. In his spare time, he likes to play sports and spend time with friends. Hodge is a member of the National Honor Society and National Athletic Honor Society and is on the honor roll. His future plans are to attend Bloomsburg University and major in criminal justice.
The recipient of the Elks Junior student award is Eric Joraskie, a son of William and Nancy Joraskie, of Mount Carmel. His activities include news reporting, TV studio, chorus, operetta, Chem Club and Odessey of the Mind. He also participates in football and track and field. Joraskie placed at a recent computer fair, is a previous merit award winner and was named to the AA football all-state defensive line. In his spare time, Joraskie enjoys weight training and hanging out with friends. His future plans are to attend a four-year college and play Division I football.
The Teenager of the Month award was presented to freshman Hannah Fetterolf, a daughter of Ken and Laurie Beth Fetterolf, of Mount Carmel. Fetterolf participates in the musical, choir, computer fair and Interact Club. She is also in the Junior National Honor Society. Her future plans are to attend college to become a teacher.
The Junior Teen award was given to seventh grader Josh Leso, a son of Tim and Leslie Leso, of Mount Carmel. Leso participates in track, cross country and wrestling, and helps with WKMC Studio. In his spare time, he likes to draw, skateboard and work on digital animation. Leso's future plans are to enlist in U.S. Marine Corps and attend college to become a lawyer.
