LEWISBURG - The eighth annual Lions Club Motorcycle Tour for Diabetes will raise money Saturday, May 19, for diabetes services, eye examinations, eye surgery and eyeglasses during a 62-mile ride to Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg.
All motorcycles are welcomed. In the past, as many as 150 motorcylists from the five surrounding counties and as far away as Connecticut and New York have participated.
This year's ride will begin at Hufnagle Park on Market Street; registration will be held between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.
Riders wanting to participate in the five 50/50 "dice roll" opportunities along the tour will pay modest entry fees, with net proceeds going to the diabetes charity.
Participants are also asked to bring a can of vegetable-based soup for the luncheon soup tureen.
"No crème soup, please," said Clair Moyer, tour director.
At the tour's end, participants will be provided a lunch of hot dogs, soup and dessert.
Volunteers from Setebaid Services, Inc., in Winfield will help with this year's tour.
