Golf tourney to benefit Toys for Tots

C.T. police plan bicycle rodeo
COAL TOWNSHIP - Coal Township Police Department will hold its 18th annual bicycle rodeo from 6 to 8 p.m. Thurdsday, May 24, in the lower parking lot of Shamokin Area School District's Kemp Memorial Stadium.
Resurfacing project set
MOUNT CARMEL - The contractor will resurface 2.4 miles of roadway and install 110 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant curb ramps at various intersections in the borough.
The project, when completed by mid-November, will provide a smoother driving surface and improve access for persons with disabilities along the streets in the project area.
The work will take place along sections of Routes 61 and 54, and Market, Oak, Third, Hickory and Fifth streets. The work on Third Street will be from the borough line (near the football stadium) to Market Street, on Market Street from Fifth Street to Seventh Street, on Fifth Street from Oak Street to Market Street, on Hickory Street from the southern borough line to Fifth Street, on Oak Street from Fifth Street to East Avenue, and on Routes 61 and 54 from the eastern borough line to Mount Carmel Avenue.
Traffic flow will be controlled by flaggers to assist the traveling public through the work zones.
New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc. is the prime contractor for this $1.2 million transportation contract.
