COAL TOWNSHIP - Four people, including a 3-year-old girl, escaped injury in a two-vehicle accident Friday morning on Route 225 near the Cameron Bridge/Second Street intersection.

Coal Township Patrolman Chris Lapotsky reported Shayla Snyder, 21, of 1554 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, was driving a red Cavalier north on Route 225 at about 9:15 a.m. when she failed to stop for a blue Dodge Caravan operated by Jeanne Walters, 57, of 133 Stevens St., Trevorton, who was stopped for a red light at the Cameron Bridge/Second Street intersection.

Lapotsky said the car crashed into the rear of the van, causing extensive front-end damage to the auto and minor damage to the van. The car was towed from the scene by Patrick's Towing.

Snyder, a passenger in her car, Mikaelyn Hornberger, 3, of Shamokin Street, Trevorton, Walters and her passenger, Randall Walters, 33, of the same address, escaped injury.

Lapotsky said Snyder will be cited for careless driving.

Assisting Lapotsky and Patrolman Chad Yoder at the scene were Coal Township Rescue Squad, members of Union and Maine fire companies, Coal Township Assistant Fire Chief Michael Timco, Coal Township Rescue Squad Chief Jim Hoffman and township fire police.
