Boyfriend charged in assault
SHAMOKIN - Norman J. Bohner Jr., 33, of 406 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin, was arraigned Sunday by on-call Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones on charges of simple assault and harassment relating to a domestic disturbance Sunday afternoon.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Shamokin Cpl. Darwin Tobias III, Bohner is accused of pushing his live-in girlfriend, Angela Hopper, into a wooden/glass piece of furniture, causing her right hand to go through a pane of glass. Bohner also allegedly smashed various items in the residence and punched Hopper in the chest.
Police said the disturbance occurred at about 3:45 p.m.
Bohner was initially committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $15,000 bail, but later posted bail.
Aggravated assault at SCI
COAL TOWNSHIP - Garrett M. Cessna, 20, an inmate at SCI-Coal Township, has been charged by Trooper Kevin Kearney of state police at Stonington with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person relating to a March 28 disturbance at the state prison.
According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Cessna repeatedly punched and kicked inmate Eric Schaeffer, causing him to suffer a fractured nose, fractured right eye and broken right fibula.
DUI charges
SHAMOKIN - Dylan McNaughton, 27, of 350 S. Market St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and hit and run involving a two-vehicle accident April 7 in the 700 block of Bear Valley Avenue.
Police reported McNaughton had a blood-alcohol content of .224 percent.
Drug offenses
SHAMOKIN - Jimmie Driggers II, 22, of 405 E. Sunbury St., Apt. 2, Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to an April 25 incident at his apartment.
Heroin charges
SHAMOKIN - William V. Clements Jr., 21, of 102 E. Elm St., Shamokin, has been charged by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes with possession of heroin, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a March 18 disturbance at Dunkin' Donuts on West Sunbury Street.
Retail theft
COAL TOWNSHIP - David McCormick, 34, of 7 S. Gold St., Shamokin, has been charged by Patrolman Jason Adams with retail theft for allegedly stealing a 37-inch LCD flat-screen television valued at $328 from Wal-Mart Supercenter along Route 61 on April 23.
McCormick was seriously injured early Sunday morning when he lost control of his truck along Trevorton Road and it rolled over and sheared a utility pole. He was listed Tuesday afternoon in fair condition at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, according to a hospital spokeswoman. He had been in critical condition.
Burglary at Herndon Reload
HERNDON - State police at Stonington are investigating a burglary that occurred between 5:20 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday at Herndon Reload Co., 386 Pennsylvania Ave.
Police said someone gained entry to the main office building through a rear window by disabling the locking mechanism and then fled. Police said nothing was reported missing.
Anyone with information about the burglary is urged to call state police at 286-5601 and ask for Trooper Daniel J. Wilk.
Domestic disturbance
SHAMOKIN - City police are investigating a domestic disturbance that occurred in the 1000 block of East Sunbury Street at about 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Bad check
ATLAS - David Eye, 34, of 158 Chestnut Lane, Oak Ridge Estates, was charged by Mount Carmel Township Chief of Police Brian Hollenbush with issuing a bad check in the amount of $415 to Mount Carmel Township for payment of a sewage bill April 24.
Drug charges
MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman David Donkochik has charged Matthew P. Kern, 20, of 127 West Ave., Mount Carmel, with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and underage drinking relating to an April 21 incident in the 100 block of South Orange Street.
