MOUNT CARMEL - Elysburg's Henry Hynoski, starting fullback on the Super Bowl XLVI champion New York Giants, autographed team memorabilia that will be raffled off to benefit the Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation.
The organization has served local families with bleeding disorders for more than 50 years. It raises funds for research, patient services and support, education, advocacy and special events.
Hynoski supports the cause of hemophilia because of his friendship with the Scicchitano family from Mount Carmel Township. In his younger years, Hynoski spent time playing basketball and lifting weights with Jake Scicchitano, who, along with his two brothers, Seth and Ben, all have hemophilia.
Items to be raffled are a New York Giants collector's football, baseball cap, adult T-shirt, youth T-shirt, commemorative 2011 season book, mini-football and a Christmas ornament. Chances are $1 and are available at Mount Carmel Area High School, Mount Carmel Area Elementary School and Star Physical Therapy. Winners will be drawn on Friday, April 27.
Monetary donations will also be accepted, with checks made payable to the Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation. For more information, contact Jolene Scicchitano at Mount Carmel Area Elementary School.
