MCA honor society inductions today
MOUNT CARMEL - Mount Carmel Area Junior-Senior High School will hold honor society inductions at 7 p.m. today in the high school auditorium.
Seniors will be inducted into Masque and Gavel, Quill and Scroll and Athletic Honor Society. Students in eighth and ninth grades will be inducted into the Junior National Honor Society, and sophomores, juniors and seniors will be inducted into the National Honor Society.
Parents, family and friends are invited to attend.
School open Thursday at SASD
COAL TOWNSHIP - School is in session Thursday for Shamokin Area School District students for a snow makeup day.
School is closed Friday and Monday for the Easter holiday.
Ukrainian egg decorating is topic
SUNBURY - Rose Demsko, Shamokin, will present a program on Ukrainian decorated eggs at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Northumberland County Historical Society, 1150 N. Front St. The program is free and open to the public.
County, justice offices closed Friday
The offices of Magisterial District Judges John Gembic III, Shamokin, and Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel, will be closed Friday in observance of Good Friday.
All Northumberland County offices also will be closed Friday.
Contributions sought for 150th auction
MOUNT CARMEL - Organizers of the borough's 150th anniversary celebration scheduled for 2012 are seeking basket donations for a Chinese auction fundraiser to be held during the Lions Club's annual Oak Street Festival, Saturday, May 7.
Civic and fraternal organizations, churches, veterans groups and businesses are welcome to sponsor a filled basket. Contact Mayor Kevin Jones at 339-2471.
Baskets must be delivered to the Mount Carmel Elks on Wednesday evening, May 4.
Money for the auction space at the festival has been donated, Jones said.
