Elmer & Esther Shinskie
In February 1947, I met my wife, Esther, in Tharp's Ice Cream Parlor. She was a waitress and I just returned from the service.
We were married Nov. 18, 1950, 61 years ago, and we've been happily married ever since. We went through a lot of tough times, but we survived.
Our marriage is based on love, faith and friendship. We have always tried to share and work things out together and have always been in love.
Some of the wildest moments of our lives were the birth of our two girls and walking on Mt. Washington in 60 mph winds.
For us, the secret to lasting love is sharing, working together, understanding each other and knowing that marriage is a 50-50 deal, not 60-40.
