John and Katie Shiko
I met my husband in November of 2010. We were introduced by a mutual friend, as he was just recently divorced, and I was going through a divorce at the time.
From the very first night we met, I knew John was someone very special. We quickly became attached at the hip, and inseparable. After a few months of dating, we moved in together, sharing our time with my two amazing children and John's two wonderful kids. It seemed almost too good to be true, as our pre-made family came together so perfectly.
John and I got engaged in February 2011, and I couldn't have been happier. This man treated me and my children like gold. I remained cautious, however, as I was afraid of a relationship so serious, after just going through my divorce, but I just felt John was the man I was meant to grow old with.
We spent all of our free time together with our children, or just sitting at our kitchen table talking about life, or driving around in the car enjoying each other's company.
In July 2011, John and I became husband and wife, and although our relationship moved very quickly, it is not something I regret one bit. After all of my ups and downs in life, and going through my divorce, I realized sometimes what you had planned is not always what God has planned for you.
