Tree pickup set Jan. 7 in Ralpho Twp.
ELYSBURG - The Ralpho Township Business Association will have its annual Christmas tree pickup Saturday, Jan. 7. Residents are asked to have their trees curbed by 9 a.m. and donations clearly attached.
Donations can also be mailed to the association at P.O. Box 218, Elysburg 17824.
Trees will be recycled for mulch that is used at the community park, and donations directly fund the association's $500 annual scholarship program.
Search is on for ABA grand marshals
ASHLAND - The Ashland Mummers Club is searching for the names of grand marshals for six parades.
The Ashland Mummers Club created the honor of grand marshal in the Mummers parade in 1977, said Adam J. Bernodin III, who is spearheading a project to get an historical marker in honor of the Ashland Boys Association.
"Earl 'Chick' Ervine was the first grand marshal in 1977 for his long years of dedication with the Ashland Boys Association and with the Mummers Club," said Bernodin. "The Mummers club over the years changed hands with officers and never kept records on certain years on who was honored as grand marshal."
