BEAR GAP - The fire that displaced a family of four Sunday at 124 Wynn School Road is not believed to be suspicious, according to an official from Numidia's Valley Chemical Fire Company.
Fire Chief Mark D. Sharrow said Monday that he and the local police chief were at the scene for two hours Monday. While they had not yet determined a cause, neither official believes the fire was caused by a criminal act.
Sharrow said he believes the fire started on the first floor in living room.
"We're waiting on the insurance company to investigate as well. Until then, we're considering it still under investigation," he said.
There is no damage estimate yet either, he said.
Emergency personnel were dispatched about 2:45 p.m. to the rural home in Cleveland Township, Columbia County.
The house, located about one mile east of All Saints Cemetery, is home to Linda and Daniel Anderson and their children, Logan, 17, and Laken, 13. No one was injured in the blaze.
Fire crews from at least eight area departments in Columbia and Northumberland counties responded directly to the scene, with other departments placed on standby.
The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes and was considered fully extinguished about 5:30 p.m.
