SHAMOKIN - The following hearings took place Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. Defendants who waive their cases or are held for court on charges, were ordered to appear for plea court Jan. 6, 2012, at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time they can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

- Matthew Fodor, 44, of 226 S. Vine St., Shamokin, waived to court a charge of possession of bath salts relating to an Oct. 26 incident at his home.

The charges were filed by Shamokin Patrolman Jarrod Scandle.

- Joshua R. Strouse, 30, of 452 N. Race St., Sunbury, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, two counts of driving under suspension, driving an unregistered vehicle, careless driving and failure to drive in a single lane.

The charges were filed by Trooper Nicholas Berger of state police at Stonington in connection with an Oct. 15 incident at the intersection of Route 61 and Tulip Road in Shamokin Township.

- Samantha L. Klowas, 28, of Selinsgrove, pleaded guilty to a summary offense of harassment and was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs. An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.

Klowas was charged by Trooper David Townsend of state police at Stonington with throwing iced tea and a glass at her boyfriend, Jeffrey Michael Krushinskie, 33, of 154 Elm Road, Shamokin, on Oct. 23 at Krushinskie's residence. Police said the glass struck Krushinskie in the face, causing a deep laceration on his right cheek and a laceration on the right side of his forehead that required medical treatment at Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

- Bonnie M. Lahr, 27, of 807 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, waived to court a charge of retail theft.

Lahr was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Shane Mowery with stealing $30.57 worth of merchandise from Weis Markets on Oct. 19.

- Mark Hughes, 22, of 409 N. Rock St., Apt. 3, Shamokin, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for six months. An additional charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was withdrawn.

Hughes was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Bryan Primerano in connection with a Sept. 23 incident at his apartment.

- Michael Fuchek, 42, of 118 Tharp St., Tharptown, pleaded guilty to a summary offense of harassment and was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs. An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.

Fuchek was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Matthew Henrich with assaulting his brother, James Fuchek, at 118 Tharp St. on Nov. 27, causing injury.
