Don't expect Wednesday night's snowfall to cause many problems today, according to information from the National Weather Service (NWS) received Wednesday evening.

John LaCorte, NWS meteorologist, said the rain the area's been experiencing was expected to turn into two to three inches of the white stuff Wednesday night, but NWS expected the snow to taper off by midnight.

Wednesday night's temperatures were not expected to drop below 30 degrees, but today's forecast is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 40 degrees.

In other words, LaCorte said, the snow won't likely stick around for long.

The rest of the week "looks good, too," with clear skies and temperatures in the 40s and 30s, he said.

The first snowfall of the year fell the weekend of Oct. 29 and dropped approximately four inches in the Shamokin-Mount Carmel area.
