Clausi in hospital for a few days
COAL TOWNSHIP - Northumberland County Commissioner Vinny Clausi is hospitalized at Shamokin Area Community Hospital after complications from a recent surgery.
Clausi said by phone Wednesday that he awoke with pain Tuesday night and went to the hospital, where it was determined he had a blood clot.
He said he is conducting county business by phone from his hospital bed, but will stay for a few days to be sure everything is OK.
Clausi had shoulder surgery on Nov. 23.
Financial aid night at Southern
CATAWISSA R.R. - The guidance department at Southern Columbia Area High School will be holding a financial aid night at 6 p.m. today in the high school cafeteria. A representative from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency will be presenting an overview of the financial aid process and answering your questions. Parents of juniors and seniors are welcome to attend.
Visits to veterans planned
KULPMONT - Discussion about visiting veterans at local nursing homes for Christmas was the focus of a Nov. 22 meeting of Kulpmont American Legion Auxiliary attended by all officers.
Reggie Poplaski and Dottie Andrewleski will visit Mount Carmel Senior Living Community. Betty Chapman and Jackie Butler will visit Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Marion Edmondson and Renee Reed will visit Serenity Gardens.
Members will decorate the Legion hall at 6 p.m. Friday. The annual Christmas party will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Legion. The next auxiliary meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 24.
