Kettle Drive kicks off today
COAL TOWNSHIP - The Salvation Army will hold the kickoff for its annual kettle collection at 10 a.m. today at Wal-Mart SuperCenter. Any individual or organization wishing to help can call the Salvation Army at 644-0486.
Free Christmas dinner in Trevorton
ZERBE TOWNSHIP - The Trevorton Community Ambulance will present its fourth annual free Christmas dinner for residents starting at noon Saturday, Dec. 3, at the ambulance headquarters, 626 W. Shamokin St.
The meal, consisting of turkey with all the trimmings and pumpkin pie for dessert, is free for all residents in Trevorton, and Zerbe, East and West Cameron and Little Mahanoy townships. Patrons can eat-in or take-out; free home delivery for elderly and handicapped residents only is available.

Thanksgiving service set for Sunday
SHAMOKIN - Area residents are invited to attend a communitywide Thanksgiving service sponsored by the Shamokin Area Ministerium of Churches, 7.p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Restoration Ministeries Church, Chestnut and Third streets. The service will include a homily, special music and scripture readings as a way for community residents to give thanks for their many blessings throughout the year.
