NORTHUMBERLAND - Police, including a tactical team from Lewisburg, responded Saturday evening to an incident at a home on Priestley Avenue in Northumberland Borough. Police ordered the evacuation of homes in the vicinity and blocked off a number of streets in the vicinity.
Although information was sketchy, unofficial reports at the scene were that the incident involved reports of a man "holed up" in a house with a number of guns. Although law enforcement personnel were not available for comment, emergency personnel said it was not a hostage situation.
Police personnel staged in the area of Water and Hanover streets. The incident began early Saturday evening and it was at 9 p.m. that the tactical team ordered the evacuation of adjacent homes.
