Mother Cabrini to hold eucharistic devotions

SHAMOKIN - The Rev. Michael Heine, who has served as a teacher, guidance counselor and missionary, will be the guest speaker at 40-hour eucharistic devotions Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at Mother Cabrini Church.

The 49-year-old native of Spring Lake, N.J., who was ordained in 1990, was a high school teacher for four years in Fort Pierce, Fla., before serving as director of guidance and counseling for 12 years at Archbishop Curley High School in Baltimore, Md.

He then served five years as a missionary in Above Rocks, Jamaica, and currently is the director of postulants in Ellicott City, Md., for the Franciscan order.

The 40-hour devotions will begin after the 11 a.m. Mass Sunday followed by exposition all day. Exposition also will be held after the 8 a.m. Mass Monday and Tuesday. Vesper services and benediction will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in the church.

A light reception will be held in the church hall following the closing vesper service Tuesday. All are invited.
