District justices offices closed
SUNBURY - All Northumberland County Magisterial District Judge offices, including John Gembic III's office in Shamokin and Hugh A. Jones's office in Mount Carmel will be closed today for Election Day and Friday for Veterans Day.
League marking Marine Corps birthday
KULPMONT - The Black Diamond Detachment of the Marine Corps League will hold its monthly meeting from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the American Legion after which the group will celebrate the Marine Corps 237th birthday.
All Marines and Fleet Marine Force corpsmen are welcome to join in the celebration. Proof of service to the Marine Corps (dd214) will be required for entry.
Also, the annual selection of Marine of the Year will be held.

Old-fashioned Christmas planned
ASHLAND - Ashland Downtown Inc. will hold its annual Old Fashioned Christmas celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in the downtown business district along Centre Street. The event will include horse-drawn carriage rides, a live Nativity and a visit from Santa. Details will be announced closer to the event.
