Banners returned
MOUNT CARMEL - Mayor J. Kevin Jones reported that four of the five welcome banners for the borough, sponsored by the Mount Carmel Lions Club, have been returned. The banners blew off their poles over the weekend due to heavy winds. Jones asked whomever has the fifth banner to return it to borough hall or call 339-4486.
Halloween party planned
RALPHO TOWNSHIP - The Elysburg Rotary Club and Ralpho Township Women's Club will sponsor a children's Halloween party from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at the Ralpho Township Municipal Building.
The party is open to children up to age 10.
Tickets available for 'White Christmas'
SHAMOKIN - Tickets are on sale at Beverly's Flowers and Shuey Jewelers, Independence Street, for "White Christmas," a musical to be performed at the Northumberland County Career and Arts Center at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27. Tickets are $5.
Traffic pattern change on Route 11
NORTHUMBERLAND - Point Township Police Department urges motorists to use caution when traveling on northbound Route 11 (Point Township Drive). The passing zone that began at Ridge Road and continued north to Epler Road has been eliminated, and the center lane is for turns only. PennDOT crews completed the changes Monday. Drivers are asked to stay alert and be aware others may still attempt to pass. The area will be watched closely by officers, police said.
