SHAMOKIN - The Shamokin Police Department has received complaints about people going house to house claiming to be representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

FEMA personnel should be able to provide proper credentials, if requested. Police advise residents not to give any personal information to people that cannot provide the proper FEMA credentials.

If you or someone you know encounters this type of fraud, contact your local police department immediately. For more information and tips to keep you safe from fraud, go to the FEMA website at FEMA.gov.
