TREVORTON - Two motions to suspend activity on the building of a new school at Dalmatia Elementary and the maintenance shed project for the Line Mountain Jr/Sr High School failed to pass by the Line Mountain School Board at the regular meeting Tuesday night at Trevorton Elementary.
The motions were brought up by Charles Sample, who was hoping to postpone the projects until the board had all of the information on the budget and could determine if it is the proper time to proceed.
"We voted before Gov. Corbett came out with his massive tax cuts for schools," Sample said. "We passed this at the last meeting on a 5-4 vote before we knew of the drastic cuts on education."
During the discussion on the Dalmatia building project, Lauren Hackenburg presented other board members and those in attendance with photos of Dalmatia Elementary from the week before PSSA testing, when school was starting, showing many of the problems with the old building.
Since the motion failed by a vote of 4-4, with Brian Buddock not present at the meeting, the project for the new school continues as scheduled.
The motion to suspend activity on the maintenance shed project failed by a vote of 5-3, therefore, that project will also continue as originally planned.
In other business, the board approved motions for:
- The treasurer's report for the period ending March 16
