CCD classes announced

MOUNT CARMEL - Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Divine Redeemer churches will begin religious education classes (CCD) for sixth, seventh and eighth grade classes on Sunday Sept.18, and for first through fifth grades Monday Sept 19. All classes begin at 5:45 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Hall 45 S. Market St.

Geisinger to host driver program

DANVILLE - Geisinger Medical Center will host an AARP Driver Safety Program for adults age 50 and older from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 13 and 14 at the Henry Hood Center for Health Research Multipurpose Room 1, 100 N. Academy Ave.

An AARP instructor will discuss driver safety and how to manage common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. The instructor will also review current traffic laws, signage and new technology.

Upon completion of the eight-hour course, participants are eligible for a three-year insurance discount of at least 5 percent, as mandated by state law, provided the participant is at least 55 years of age.

The course costs $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members.
