n MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, fleeing or attempting to elude police, flight to avoid apprehension, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, driving under suspension, a lighting violation, driving without insurance, criminal mischief and restrictions on alcoholic beverages were ordered bound to court against Jeramy Allen Deeter, 21, of 18 First St., of Wilburton, following a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, of Mount Carmel, on Wednesday.
He was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell following a May 7 chase in which Deeter rammed the side of a township police cruiser before losing control and crashing into a tree.
Deeter was ordered to appear for arraignment at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n MOUNT CARMEL - Robert S. Schnars, 34, of 322 Avenue A, Danville, pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment during his preliminary hearing Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, of Mount Carmel. He was ordered to pay $353.50 in fines plus court costs.
Schnars was charged by Riverside Borough Cpl. Kerry J. Parkes following a domestic incident with his wife, Melissa Schnars, at 9:58 p.m. May 16 at his residence.
His wife reportedly refused to testify at the hearing.
A charge of simple assault was withdrawn in the case.
n MOUNT CARMEL - Ronald W. Barron, 33, of 447 E. Center St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment during his preliminary hearing Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, of Mount Carmel. He was ordered to pay $353.50 in fines plus court costs.
Barron was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Patrolman Matthew Dillman following a May 27 disturbance at 213 S. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, in which he was accused of shoving his girlfriend, Elizabeth Kramer, onto a bed, choking her and stealing her cell phone valued at $200.
Kramer reportedly refused to testify at the hearing.
Charges of simple assault and theft by unlawful taking were withdrawn in the case.
n MOUNT CARMEL - Lewis James Dietrick, 45, of 410 Centre St., Apt. 4, Ashland, waived to court Wednesday charges of false reports to law enforcement, accidents involving damage to unattended property, driving while suspended and careless driving and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, of Mount Carmel, to appear for arraignment at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.
Dietrick was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush with the offenses relating to an accident at 7:32 a.m. Thursday, May 12, on Route 2023, Mount Carmel Township.
Dietrick falsely told police that Joyce Gayle, of Ashland, the owner of a blue Ford Explorer, was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. When contacted, she told police she was unaware the vehicle had been taken, and was asleep at the time.
At his arraignment, Deitrick can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
Bail was set at $5,000.
