n Cassandra James, 24, of 236 S. Oak St., Apt. 5, Mount Carmel, waived two separate sets of charges during a preliminary hearing July 20 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

She first waived charges of forgery, false representation, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, filed by Patrolman Kelly Campbell of Mount Carmel Township Police. She then waived charges of acquisition of a controlled substance by misrepresentation and forgery, filed by Patrolman Christopher Grow of the Ralpho Township Police. Both cases involved an incident March 10 when James alleged stole a prescription pad from Dr. Matthew Kraynak and forged the doctor's signature to receive Dilaudid.

Jones ordered James to appear for arraignment Aug. 22 at Northumberland County Courthouse in Sunbury, at which time she can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n Charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, misbranding of a controlled substance, driving under the influence, careless driving and violating a civil ordinance of possession of synthetic drugs were waived to court by Michael E. Begis, 26, of 234 W. Saylor St., Mount Carmel, during a preliminary hearing July 20 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Begis was charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman of the Mount Carmel Borough Police following an incident in the 300 block of South Banana Street on June 10.

Begis was ordered to appear for arraignment Aug. 22 at Northumberland County Courthouse in Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n Jeffrey P. Stevens, 31, of 100 W. Girard St., Mount Carmel, waived charges of driving under the influence and failure to observe stop signs during a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, of Mount Carmel, on July 20.

Stevens was charged by Kulpmont Borough Police Patrolman Cade Holden following a traffic stop on Eighth and Fir streets at 1:53 a.m. April 9.

He was ordered to appear for arraignment Aug. 22 at Northumberland County Courthouse in Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
