GED test given in August

MONTANDON - The General Educational Development (GED) Test, which enables adults to earn a Commonwealth secondary diploma, will be given in August at the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) office near Montandon.

The GED exam is made up of five parts: English/writing skills, reading, social studies, science and mathematics. Persons taking the test must be 18 years of age and must have withdrawn from school.

It is recommended that applicants attend a free GED screening at one of the sites (in Bloomsburg, Lewisburg, Milton, Shamokin or Sunbury) to determine test readiness. Instructions are available for registering online.

Participants must attend one of three orientation sessions at the CSIU Monday, Aug. 8. To be scheduled for an orientation session, call the CSIU between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays at 523-1155, extension 2327; go to www.GED123.org and print both registration forms; purchase a money order ($65 for complete test, $15 for single test) made out to CSIU and mail registration forms and money order to CSIU/GED, PO Box 213, Lewisburg 17837.

Bring a government photo identification and second proof of address to orientation. Bring government photo ID on test day.
