POINT TOWNSHIP - A 63-year-old Selinsgrove man is facing three felonies of drug and other related charges following a tip from a confidential informant Wednesday, July 20, according to Point Township Police Department.
Robert Rothermel was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Robert Bolton on a felony count each of criminal use of communication facility, conspiracy to commit delivery of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver, and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance.
He was placed in Northumberland County Prison in lieu of $135,000 cash bail.
Police reported the tip came in that Rothermel was travelling to Philadelphia where he was going to purchase heroin and bring back to sell in Northumberland County. Officers conducted a traffic stop of his vehicle in the 500 block of Point Township Drive and seized 323 bags of heroin, which has a street value of more than $8,000, and an additional $372 in cash.
Point Township Police were working with members of the Northumberland/Montour Drug Task Force and state police.
