ELYSBURG - Soldiers Circle Association and the Northumberland County Council for the Arts and Humanities is sponsoring a "Field of Honor" at this year's All Home Days celebration at All Home Days Park over Labor Day weekend.

As part of the tribute, local high school students are creating 9/11 art displays. Attendees can vote for their favorite display; the winning artist will receive a scholarship valued at the amount collected plus any donations received.

Soldiers Circle Association is appealing to businesses, citizens and organizations, particularly veterans' organizations, to donate to the project. Checks can be sent to the arts council, c/o Garth Hall, 1113 N. Franklin St. Shamokin 17872.

The art will be displayed for public review beginning the last week of August.

Also, any "support our troops" motorcycle groups are welcome to surround the Field of Honor during the formation of the battlefield memorial at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3. The memorial will also pay tribute to police, firefighters and other emergency responders who lost their lives trying to rescue and protect victims of 9/11.

The All Home Days Committee requested a stunning Field of Honor, and the Soldiers Circle Association said it plans to provide just that.

Displays by local emergency responders are also planned.
