HARRISBURG - Stefanie M. Pitcavage earned the degree of Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law, Harrisburg Campus, at the spring commencement held at The Forum.
Pitcavage graduated summa cum laude and was ranked first in the class among day division graduates. She achieved dean's list honors every semester and received the Commonwealth Court Historical Society Judge Alexander F. Barbieri Award for excellence in administrative law. She also received eight certificates of achievement, which are awarded to the student who achieves the highest grade in a particular course.
Pitcavage served as the executive managing editor of the Widener Law Journal. In that capacity, she supervised her peers and oversaw publication of the "Annual Survey of Pennsylvania American Law." She also worked as a law clerk at the Harrisburg area law firm of Handler, Henning and Rosenberg, and as a research assistant for Widener law professor Christopher J. Robinette, researching insurance law and tort reform.
Pitcavage authored an article, "Mind Your Own Business? Not an Option for Pennsylvania's Public Officials Following 'Rendell v. Pennsylvania State Ethics Commission,'" which was published in the spring in the Widener Law Journal. She also co-authored with Robinette an article discussing the legal implications of a no-fault automobile insurance system. Their article was recently accepted for publication and presentation at the International Conference on Emerging Issues in Public Law to be held December in Malaysia.
Pitcavage, a 2004 graduate of Tri-Valley High School, earned her undergraduate degree in marketing from Bloomsburg University in 2008. She will begin a federal judicial clerkship in September with Judge John E. Jones III in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
