Rotary Club installs officers

ELYSBURG - The Elysburg Rotary Club installed its new officers for the 2011-2012 year. They include: Pam Yeager, secretary/treasurer; Harry Munro, vice president; James Black, president, and the Rev. Christoph Teille, retiring president.

Program planned at library

SHAMOKIN - Singer and storyteller Matthew Dodd will present a program of "Songs and Stories from Around the World" from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 29, at the Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library. His visit is planned in conjunction with the library's summer reading program.

Children of all ages are welcome. They must be accompanied by an adult.

Civil War presentation set

SUNBURY - The Susquehanna Civil War Roundtable will feature a program on Elizabeth Thorn, the "Angel of Gettysburg," at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at the Degenstein Library, 40 S. Fifth St. The program will be presented by Donna Crone, roundtable member and a Gettysburg licensed tour guide.

ELizabeth Thorn was a heroic woman who cared for the Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg while her husband served in the war.
