ELYSBURG - State Rep. Kurt Masser made a brief visit to the Ralpho Township supervisors meeting Tuesday evening. Masser said he just wanted to say "hello" and ask the board if there is anything they need. Supervisors expressed their appreciation to Masser for the visit.
Road work
Roadmaster Howard Shadduck announced paving by Eastern Industries is continuing through today or Monday. The work is being done on West Center Street, from Short to Horizon streets, and on Southview Drive. Supervisors said drivers should expect delays.
Shadduck said he is keeping a close eye on the paving project to make sure the work is being done correctly. Shadduck said Eastern has his cell phone number if they need to contact him. He is also periodically checking on the work after hours, at no cost to the township.
In other business
A letter was received from the Elysburg Fire Company in which Harvey Boyer, president, and Blaine Madara Jr., vice president, thanked the township for supporting the recent Fire Cadet Weekend. The letter stated that without the donations made by the township and many local businesses, the event would not have been possible. They also thanked police officers for their presentation.
Supervisors accepted the resignation of Dana P. Carroll Lucas as township planning commissioner and secretary. In an e-mail to the supervisors, Lucas said she has moved out of the township.
Miller Gas and Oil, Shamokin, was awarded the contract for heating fuel. The name of its fuel supplier is PPL Northumberland Leighow Oil Superior Energy.
Solicitor Todd Kerstetter submitted resolutions for engineer fees, sewage officer fees and tax duplicate fees, all of which were adopted.
Minutes and treasurer's reports were accepted. Reports were also presented by the building department, police department/public safety, zoning, recreation, manager and engineering. All supervisors were present.
