Holy Name Society
KULPMONT - The Holy Name Society of Holy Angels Church attended the 8:30 a.m. Mass and received Holy Communion as a body on Sunday, May 1. The regular monthly meeting was held in the activity center after Mass.
Vice president Edward Wojcik called the meeting to order and asked the members to remember in their prayers the deceased members, members of our armed services and the shutins of the Holy Angels parish. The members recited the Holy Name prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Secretary Robert Daniels read the minutes of the previous meeting held on April 10. There being no omissions or corrections, the minutes were approved as read.
Treasurer John Buggy gave his report on all receipts and disbursements, including the total balance from the April 10 report. A motion was made by Jerry Buchinski and seconded by Charles Mannello to accept the treasurer's report, and with all in favor, the motion was carried.
At this time it was brought to attention that Father's Day is on June 19, and for many years in the past, a father son/daughter breakfast was held and children received a gift. Wojcik remarked that this tradition should be brought back and now call it a family breakfast, honoring father, mother, daughter and sons. A motion was made by Mike Bressi and seconded by Robert York to have this breakfast and continue this tradition. All were in favor of the motion. The members agreed on a charge of $5 for each adult. Children ages 12 and under will not be charged, and all children 12 and under will be eligible for a gift. This family breakfast will be catered by Phil Scicchitano, owner of Scicchitano Buono Pizza, Kulpmont.
Tickets are available at the parish office, 373-1221; or from Wojcik, 373-1369; John Buggy 373-1698; Jerry Buchinski 373-3654 or from any Holy Name member.
Thanks was given to Buchinski and Wojcik for the preparing of the continental breakfast.
