The Northumberland County Fine Arts gallery will be hosting a show of paintings titled An Eclectic Collection - a series of paintings, watercolors, plaster art and sketches spanning fifteen years work of a local artist, Amber Amato. Born and raised in Shamokin, Amato began her training with a 64 pack of Crayola crayons and watching Bob Ross on PBS. She expanded her toolbox and skill set through the instruction of the talented Misters Morrison, Avery and Davis in the Shamokin Area School District; a drawing class at Penn State; travels to art museums, and her studies of faux finishing and plaster. The resulting collection includes a wide variety of media and subject matter. From sports to still life, plaster to pastel, beautiful to bizarre, "An Eclectic Collection" will be on display at the Northumberland County Fine Arts Gallery today through March 25. The public is invited to the artist's reception Friday, March 4, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
