HARRISBURG - The state Senate on Monday confirmed two row officers in Northumberland County, according to state Sen. John R. Gordner (R-27).
Gov. Corbett nominated Kevin P. Gilroy, Paxinos, as treasurer and Tony L. Phillips, Upper Augusta Township, as controller last month. Both were serving as acting row officers and were recommended by Gordner for the gubernatorial nominations.
The unanimous confirmations fill two vacancies in the county row offices for terms that will expire at the end of the year. Both Gilroy and Phillips were nominated by the Republican Party in last week's primary election and face election in November.
Gilroy has served as acting treasurer since last year's resignation of Ronald Chamberlain for health reasons. Gilroy previously was employed in the banking industry.
Phillips, the former deputy controller, has served as acting controller since the resignation earlier this year of Charles Erdman, who accepted a position with the Corbett administration.
"I'm pleased Gov. Corbett nominated Kevin and Tony for these positions, and I was pleased to work for their confirmations in the Senate. They are both well qualified," Gordner said.
