Jones defeats Wilson

SUNBURY - Incumbent Magisterial District Justice Hugh A. Jones, of Mount Carmel, claimed an easy victory over his opponent Tuesday in the primary election and goes on to face no apparent competition in the general election come November.

Jones was most popular in the Democratic ticket, where he had 2,068 votes compared to Kulpmont Police Chief Richard L. Wilson's 518. On the Republican ticket, Jones captured 945 votes compared to Wilson's 370.

There were two write-in votes for both parties' tickets.

Magisterial District Judge Robert J. Bolton, who ran unopposed in the election, captured 1,348 votes in the Republican ticket and 617 votes in the Democratic ticket. There were seven write-in votes altogether.

Magisterial District Judge John Gembic, who ran unopposed in the election, captures 1,126 votes in the Republican ticket and 1,584 votes in the Democratic ticket. There were 14 write-in votes altogether.

Magisterial District Judge Carl Rice, who ran unopposed in the election, captured 1,775 of the Republican votes and 833 of the Democratic votes. There were six write-in votes.
