Four candidates, two incumbents and two challengers, received double nominations Tuesday for Mount Carmel Area School Board.
Winning both Republican and Democratic nominations were Robert E. Muldowney and Mike Rovito, both incumbent directors, Thomas Ditchey and Raymond D. Kraynak.
Michael Brinkash won a Democratic nomination. In the Republican primary, incumbent director Judith McCollum was the apparent winner for the fifth spot, but, according to unofficial returns, she holds only a two-vote lead over Brinkash.
Kraynak is a son of Dr. Raymond Kraynak, an incumbent Mount Carmel Area School Board member whose term does not expire this year. He ran as part of a team with Gary Kozock and Robert Michalkovich. Meg Bartos was also a candidate.
All nine school board candidates cross-filed in both the Democratic and Republican primaries.
Breakdown of votes in the Democratic primary was: Muldowney, 1,090; Ditchey, 1,005; Kraynak, 1,004; Brinkash, 967, and Rovito, 912, followed by Michalkovich, 833; McCollum, 813; Bartos, 668; and Kozock, 602.
Republican totals were: Rovito, 289; Ditchey, 279; Muldowney, 270; Kraynak, 247, and McCollum, 244, followed by Brinkash, 242; Michalkovich, 205; Bartos, 201, and Kozock, 150.
Incumbent board member Rose Marquardt is not seeking re-election.
