SHAMOKIN - A former Northumberland man who was allegedly involved in a 2005 armed robbery of a disabled Paxinos man at his home before fleeing to North Carolina has been charged with multiple felony offenses.
Erik J. Harrington, 21, formerly of Sheetz Avenue, was arraigned at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on felony offenses of robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, theft, criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit burglary, aiding the consummation of a crime and simple assault, and a misdemeanor of terroristic threats relating to a July 16, 2005, armed robbery of James Honecker at the victim's home along Route 61 near Masser's Banquet Hall in Paxinos.
The charges were filed by Trooper Ronald Zanella of state police at Stonington.
Harrington was committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
Kasey Allen Sees, of Sunbury, was previously charged by state police with the same offenses in connection with the robbery. Two other young men allegedly involved in the robbery have not been located during the past six years and have not been charged.
Harrington, who was taken into custody April 29 by authorities in North Carolina, was extradited earlier this week to Pennsylvania and was incarcerated at Northumberland County Prison prior to being arraigned. He reportedly has relatives in North Carolina, according to Zanella.
Harrington, Sees and the other two assailants, who were all wearing dark clothing, hats and bandanas across their faces, are accused of entering Honecker's home at 1:30 a.m. and holding the victim at gunpoint in his living room while threatening to kill him. Police said the robbers demanded money, ransacked the home and removed numerous items, including 12 rifles and shotguns, knives, ammunition, cash, jewelry, an amplifier and prescription narcotics having a total value of $5,590. Police said the robbers also pulled telephones from the wall and damaged two televisions, causing approximately $300 damage.
