COAL TOWNSHIP - Christina Clausi, 31, of Coal Township, who suffered serious burns April 30 when she accidentally fell into a campfire near Catawissa, was discharged from Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown on Tuesday and is recuperating at home.
Clausi, a daughter of Northumberland County Commissioner Vinny Clausi, thanked everyone Friday for their cards and prayers while she was hospitalized and asked people to keep her in their thoughts and prayers during her "long road" to recovery.
Clausi especially commended her fiance, Steve Wagner, her father and stepmother, Deb Clausi, for staying with her at the hospital, the staff at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Northumberland County Area Agency on Aging.
According to Vinny Clausi, his daughter got up at night, tripped over a chair and fell into a campfire while camping with family members.
Christina Clausi was initially transported by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville before being flown by Life Flight helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital, where she was in an intensive care unit at the burn center before being released Tuesday.
